Ratelfontein Crest

Situated in the heart of the Karoo in central South Africa is the Ratelfontein Private Game Reserve. The reserve covers approximately 32,500 acres, supporting more than 2000 head of indigenous and exotic game. Included are some of the rarer species such as the Arabian Oryx, Scimitar-Horned Oryx, Red Lechwe, Indian Black Buck and Sable Antelope.

Our leading Professional Hunter and Hunting Outfitter, Jan Westdyk, will guide you on your quest for your African trophies. Registered as a PH throughout South Africa and Namibia, Jan knows the land well. With patience, skill and intimate knowledge of your sought after trophy, you will be lead to success. Hunting is mostly done by walking and stalking. Vehicles and horses may be used to assist in the hunt when necessary.

With over 25 species of game and numerous species of birds, Ratelfontein will satisfy the most avid game-viewer, bird-watcher and photographer. Clay pigeon shooting on our challenging six-station sporting course will test your shotgun abilities.

American Bison

And keep a look out for the American Bison that were donated to the farm — Ratelfontein is one of a few places outside of America, where you will see these majestic animals in the wild! Don’t forget to bring your binoculars, camera and extra film.
